Background
Doug Byrum has extensive business law and real estate experience. In particular, he has been involved in over three hundred (300) business and real estate transactions in over seventeen (17) years of practicing law. He has negotiated and drafted documents in deal sizes ranging from tens of thousands to tens of millions of dollars. With his background in finance, Doug understands the valuations and financing of the transactions in which he is involved and can help all parties understand the economics as well as the legal side of every deal. Doug has participated in nationally recognized seminars and has spoken on various business and transaction matters including, but not limited to, counseling small-to-medium size businesses and negotiating, structuring and drafting transaction agreements.
Doug and his wife, Amy, and their three (3) sons reside in Zionsville, Indiana. Upon graduation from law school, Doug began his legal career as an in-house counsel for an institutional healthcare company located in Indianapolis. In 1996, he joined a small, well-respected business law and estate planning firm on the northeast side of Indianapolis where he helped build that firm's business and real estate practice especially in the area of transactional work. In 2004, Doug took advantage of an opportunity to start his own firm in the village of Zionsville to better and more cost-effectively serve his individual and business clients. On September 1, 2011, Doug merged his practice with Lewis & Kappes, P.C. to afford his clients the ability to utilize the network of the highly skilled attorneys at a large, full-service law firm while maintaining a local presence and cost-effective approach to legal representation.
